How to Make Orange Juice and Its Health Benefits
Here are six delicious ways to make orange juice. From a
glass of orange juice to a hurricane!
The Positive Effects of Orange Juice
Citrus fruits, especially oranges, have risen to prominence
as the preferred "morning juice" due to their high vitamin C content.
More variations on orange juice than any other fruit juice can be found in the
supermarket. However, I don't think store-bought orange juice can compare to
the real thing. The nutritional value of fresh orange juice also far exceeds
that of commercially packaged juice.
Oranges are a great source of vitamin C, but they also
provide other nutrients. Both folate and vitamin A can be found in decent
amounts in this food. Minerals including potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and
magnesium can be found in it in moderate to high concentrations. And that's not
all: oranges also have hesperidin and tangeritin, two potent antioxidants. Both
of these nutrients have been linked to reduced cancer risk and improved
cardiovascular health.
Making tropicana
orange juice: The orange's peel should be removed, but as much of
the white skin as possible should be left intact. Juicing the peel will result
in an extremely acidic flavor, yet the white skin has many beneficial
nutrients. I also suggest juicing the pith because of its high nutritious
content. The following instructions apply to all of the recipes that follow.
